Survey Favors East Cobb Roundabout

The project at Holly Springs and Davis roads will begin when schools are out for the summer.

The final tally between the email poll and the public information open house (PIOH) input is 62 support the Holly Springs and Davis Road roundabout while 45 oppose it, according to District 3 Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell.

There were five conditional responses and six uncommitted responses. The conditional respondents requested conditions on which they would support or oppose the roundabout, while the uncommitted respondents neither opposed nor supported the roundabout project.

The Cobb County Department of Transportation plans for construction to begin when schools close for the summer at the end of May.

The roundabout project should be kept within the existing right of way, and the contractor won't remove much vegetation.

Message boards will offer drivers guidance during construction and for several weeks afterward until they get accustomed to using the new roundabout.

When students return to school in mid-August, the roundabout construction should be complete.
