Holiday events at The Art Place
The following events and activities will help you get in a festive mood for the holidays, and stroke your creative palate heading into the new year.
The Art Place, part of Cobb County Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, is located at 3330 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta. For more information on these and other events, please go to The Art Place website.
-- "A Candy Kane Christmas" is presented as part of the 18th Annual St. Nick's Cafe. The play stars a teenage girl, Candy, who learns what Christmas truly means in the midst of her personal mishaps. Showtimes are on Dec. 4 at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased online at www.theartplace.us. Admission includes breakfast, or lunch, the show, a visit from Santa, and a gift for children in the audience. -- Santa's Art Studio allows children 4 to 10 years old to create two to three holiday-themed gifts or decorations in this workshop. The session ends with a holiday show. Tickets are $30 and can be reserved through the Cobb County Parks, Recreation, Cultural Affairs Department's website.
-- The eighth annual Empty Bowl Brunch for Charity takes place Dec. 12, 11a.m.–1:30 p.m. Art Place staff and pottery instructors and students will donate their handcrafted bowls to be sold at this event. Tickets are $10, and includes one of the bowls and chili or soup. Proceeds will be forwarded to local charities. Call 770-509-2700 for more information.
-- An Artist Attic Holiday Show and Sale continues through Dec. 19. This program will feature handmade items by Art Center instructors, students and staff members. Call ahead for times—770-509-2700.
-- Registration for winter and spring classes continues through Dec. 15 at 9:30 a.m. for Cobb County residents and for persons who buy tickets on site. Registration for residents who live outside of Cobb County, and registrations placed by phone, begins Dec.16.
