Cobb Board of Education candidate Lisa Hanson has been endorsed by the Cobb County Association of Educators.
Hanson, who lives in the Lassiter High School district, is one of three Republicans running in the July 31 primary for the Post 5 seat currently held by David Banks.
He is seeking re-election, and the other candidate on the ballot is Stephanie Henry, a parent in Pope High School and Hightower Trail Middle School communities.
According to Bre Peeler Sanders, Chair of the CCAE Political Action Committee, the organization agreed to endorse Ms. Hanson’s campaign based on her dedication to public education.
“I am pleased and honored to be endorsed by the CCAE," Hanson said. "I believe this endorsement shows that the district is looking for a fresh voice and a new direction.”

In other words, Ms. Hanson's the most liberal of the three Republicans, in a district a Democrat has scant chance of winning.
CCAE is the local unit of the National Education Association. For a look at their liberal-left politics Google "NEA" and "donations". All CCAE members are forced to pay an extra $168 yearly to fund the union's politics.
And yes, the NEA is a true union. Google "NEA" and "union" to see.

Seriously, we all know the NEA is a self-interested union and by association, so would the CCAE; however, the fact that a new comer to the political arena can garnish support from the organization that would be her constituency, lends credence to her worth; ie, the CCAE must think better of Lisa than they do of Banks. Therefore, unless you think you can do better, run yourself and see what kind of support you get. In the mean time, don't start throwing Lisa under the bus if you haven't talked to her or been to her website to find out where she stands for. go to her website, Then you can make an informed decision without branding everyone a liberal..

Too funny, Banks has spent most of his time and effort the past few years pandering to teachers, and their union turns its back on him.
All we need to know about Lisa Hanson, from her website:
". The point of view which I will bring to the school board on day one is simple: I support our local Cobb County teachers, who are highly qualified professionals, and nothing else!"

EdUktr, you don't know Lisa. One can certainly be a supporter of the teachers without pandering to their union, and she truly has been for years. Additionally, the teachers union in Cobb should not be compared with other unionized states. You might be from up north if you believe our teachers here in Cobb are all liberals. The majority of them are quite the opposite, which is one reason so many of us choose Cobb in which to live.
