Ex-Walton Star Transfers From UGA

After missing last season with an injury, Brandon Burrows is seeking more playing time and a return to defensive end.

The injury-plagued career of former Walton High School standout Brandon Burrows will continue -- but at another college football program.

Burrows has requested and received an unconditional release from the University of Georgia after missing last season.

A star at defensive end during his high school career for the Raiders, Burrows also wants to return to that position after being converted to linebacker at UGA.

The Bulldogs have changed their defensive emphasis since Burrows signed out of Walton in 2010. He redshirted his freshman season, then sat out the 2011 season with a shoulder injury.

He was listed as a third-team inside linebacker on UGA's depth chart at the end of spring practice.

Burrows has not indicated where he may transfer. If he goes to another school at the NCAA FBS Subdvision level, he will have to sit out another season.
