Cruelty to Children, Assault Arrests
East Cobb booking reports from the weekend also include charges for DUI, battery and reckless conduct. The arrest information was supplied by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office; it does not indicate a conviction.

The following individuals were arrested in East Cobb between Friday and Monday, according to information provided by the Cobb Sheriff's Office. Those being detained are at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center; an arrest does not indicate a conviction:
- William Shane Pluger, 411 Big John Trail, was charged Friday with misdemeanor DUI and running a stop sign on Delk Road near Cobb Parkway. He was released on a $1,300 bond.
- Robert Jason Woods, 871 East Lake Landing, was charged Saturday with DUI and improper lane change on I-75 near Delk Road. He was released on a $1,300 bond.
- Joshua Andrew Graham, 355 Hamilton Court, was arrested Saturday on Roswell Road and released to Polk County authorities.
- Stephen Lynn Stamper, 1211 Robert Lane, was charged Saturday with reckless conduct and was released on a $2,500 bond.
- Andrew Robert Tanguay, 987 Forest Pond Court, was charged Saturday with reckless conduct and was released on a $2,500 bond.
- Barry Lynn Gibson, 861 Franklin Road, was charged Saturday with cruelty to children, battery and obstruction of a 911 call. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
- Felicia Robinson Simes, 1035 Franklin Road, was charged Saturday with aggravated assault at the same address. She is being held on a $15,000 bond.
- Deonte Arreon Robinson, 1035 Franklin Road, was charged Saturday with aggravated assault and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
- Robert Louis Barkley, 4684 Bishop Lake Road, was charged Saturday with two counts of cruelty to children and battery. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
- Kenneth Buruss, 425 Williams Drive, was charged Sunday with criminal trespass and obstructing an officer at Bells Ferry Road and Williams Drive. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
- Jason Van Gabriel, 625 East Lake Drive, was charged Monday with misdemeanor DUI, driving with an open container, driving too fast for conditions, driving on the wrong side of the road and improper lane change at Old Canton Road and Clearbrook Drive. He was released on a $2,500 bond.

I have known Robb Barkley for many years, and have had the pleasure to coach youth sports with him as well. Many people know Robb in the community, and anyone who knows him knows that he would never be cruel in any way to his children. Robb is one of the most giving people, not just to his children, but also to his friends and strangers alike. Robb's children are certainly his shining light, and anyone who has seen him interact with them, or know him, knows that they look at him the same way. My hope is that when due process is served, that the East Cobb Patch will also cover the positive outcome that will most certainly come from this negative situation. In the United States, all are innocent until proven guilty and everyone gets their day in court. It's too bad a misleading excerpt and a photo can have some people to convict him in one of the most damaging arenas, the court of public opinion.

Thank you for your comments. This is a sensitive subject, and so I want to explain Patch's policy on publishing arrest reports.
We take information that's already in the public record to inform the East Cobb community of public safety matters, including arrests for serious offenses. We're not out to cause pain or embarrassment to someone charged or to that person's family. We state clearly that someone was charged and that this does not indicate a conviction.
Our readers have shown an interest in this public information. While I do understand your concerns, it would not be fair for us to take it down at the request of someone who demands it.
At the same time, we do not wish to leave an inaccurate impression with our readers. When this case reaches its conclusion, we will be pleased to report the documented outcome, including updating the original article.

I too have known Mr. Barkley for several years. He is a model parent raising his wonderful children almost single handedly. He guides them in school, sports, church and community activities. He also provides them with a strong base and support structure of family and friends.
On the other hand, the East Cobb Patch is the epitome of Yellow Journalism with blatant disregard for family values and or personal well being. The fact that you hide behind the guise of the publications "Policy" to report inaccurate public record is truly appalling.
As far as clearly stating the "Charges", how do account for the "White Wash" headline listing every charge in the column? At first glance it is hard to discern that someone in Mr. Barkley's case, wasn't booked on a variety of charges. You have failed miserably at not wanting to leave an inaccurate impression on your readers. That is exactly what you have done.
To Mr. Lambright's point it is too bad that the East Cobb Patch choose to publish "misleading excerpts" that could not be any farther from the truth.
While I certainly understand the need to peak readers interest. There is an unmitigated responsibility for accurate reporting with all of the facts instead of "Attention-grabbing-headline" reporting.
I hope that you hold true to updating this unfortunate posting as it will surely vindicate Mr. Barkley.

Robb is the most loving person I know. Robb's children are his WORLD and he would never do anything to hurt them. He does EVERYTHING for them. I too look forward to his day of vindication and reading about it on this website.

I do appreciate your concerns. Can you please explain the "inaccurate public record" to which you refer? What is "misleading" here? These are the charges that have been brought by police and that are part of the public record.

I stand corrected. I did not intend to question the validity of the Cobb County public record.
My concern is with East Cobb Patch's display of misleading Headlines that confusingly brand one person with a plethora of offenses.
In addition, just because it is public record does not make it truthful and or factual. As a matter of principle anyone, at anytime, may bring charges against any party or person. I have an overt concern with a publication that exacerbates extrajudicial mob action.
East Cobb Patch is fueling a negative public opinion with its tabloid internet antics. You really feel your doing the community a service by providing misleading headlines and mug shots just because it is a matter of public record?
This practice is generally frowned upon by the mainstream press. But as you stated It's all in the interest of providing readers with public information.

I second the comments made by Bill, Cathy, and Todd. Robb Barkley is a man of honor and goodwill. He would give anything for a friend and even more for his children. I am a better person and father for knowing Robb Barkely and witnessing the compassion and adventure he has shared with his children. I’ve known Robb for years through coaching and enjoying countless campfires with our kids. He simply wants the best for his kids and to share each journey life has to offer. Robb is the greatest source of motivation and spiritual guidance his children have. He recently attended mass every single day during Lent. I know neither this article nor the situation Robb got pulled into will tear him down. Rather, it will make him stronger and remind us all that “drama” is quickly consumed and forgotten. It’s integrity that prevails and is remembered by those that matter. This whole situation is insignificant to the positive impact Robb has had on his children and it would make far more interesting news to write about Robb Barkley, the caring father. No worries, we’ll write the story for you.
