Cops: Man Lured to East Cobb Apartment, Robbed

A man thought he was going to buy a car. Instead, one suspect pulled out an electronic stun device and another flashed a handgun.

Two armed robbers allegedly used an electronic stun device to incapacitate a man they lured to an East Cobb apartment complex under the guise of a cash vehicle purchase.

According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, the man went to the Grand Villas Apartments at 6:30 p.m. March 15 after receiving a call about the vehicle. At the apartment complex, the man was met by the first suspect. Once they worked out a purchase deal, the man accompanied the first suspect to the breezeway of the apartment building in order to obtain the vehicle ownership papers.

That's when the second suspect approached him from behind with an electronic stun device, according to the warrant. The first suspect pointed a handgun at the man and demanded his valuables. Both men allegedly took $1,100 cash and a Samsung cellular telephone before fleeing the scene.

Investigators learned the identity of the first suspect, Casen Erwin of Marietta, from the telephone number used to contact the victim. And the victim later identified him in a photographic lineup as the person with the handgun.

Erwin was arrested Saturday at his Westminster Square apartment on Windy Hill Road. He is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond on charges of armed battery, simple battery and aggravated assault.
