Chattahoochee River and Other Fun

Here's what you need to know to start the day July 18.

1. We’re back to normal summer weather today. It will be mostly sunny with a high around 90 and little or no wind, the National Weather Service says. Overnight, the low will be about 70.

2. East Cobb Patch takes a look today at the Rose & Crown, which celebrated its first anniversary Friday.

3. The Cobb Photographic Society will meet at 7 p.m. at 1395 S. Marietta Pkwy. David Swann will discuss creating surreal and mixed-media images.

4. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is accepting public input through Wednesday on the development of its commercial services strategy. That’s the plan for the National Park Service to form partnerships with private businesses to provide services and activities within the recreation area. To provide feedback, call Kelly Chang or William Gordon Jr. at 678-538-1227, or email kelly_chang@nps.gov or william_gordon@nps.gov.

5. The final Harry Potter film has been the blockbuster everyone expected, and East Cobbers as well as others have embraced the movie’s magic. Marietta Patch has a photo gallery from opening night at East Cobb’s Merchant’s Walk Stadium 12 Cinemas. If you haven’t decided whether to see the film, check out Brett Martin’s video review at Northeast Cobb Patch.
