More than 200 people received free dental care Saturday at Marietta Family Dental Care in East Cobb.
At least 100 people spent the night outside the dental clinic at Lower Roswell and Johnson Ferry roads to be sure they weren’t shut out of the opportunity to get one free service: a cleaning, a filling or an extraction.
The dental practice had guaranteed care for the first 100 adults and had encouraged people to line up as early as midnight to be ready for registration at 4 a.m.
The Dentistry from the Heart event came in response to an economy that remains sluggish, with unemployment in Georgia at 10.2 percent in October, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. The event was similar in intent to a two-day free dental clinic that treated thousands at First Baptist Church of Woodstock in August.
Dentists Michael and Azita Mansouri hosted the free clinic at their office in East Cobb and recruited a total of 15 dentists and 60 hygienists and other dental professionals to provide the care, the MDJ reported.
